Anime is cool.

I'm going mad with curiosity.

Long ago, my mom used to take me to a local video store called Video Valley. There I would rent what I learned years later was called anime. My two favorite movies were "Unico in the Magic Island," and "Sea Prince and the Fire Child." 「ユニコー魔法の島へ」 and 「シリウスの伝説」, respectively.

SPatFC is currently on my list of all-time favorite movies.

(no particular order)
The annoying thing about SPatFC is that the English dub version has no actor credits. Anywhere. Google it. Honestly. If you can find some, let me know.
Of course, when I saw this as a little kid, I didn't look for the credits. These days, I would probably prefer to watch the film in Japanese with subtitles (if I could get a Japanese copy), so I wouldn't care about the English actors anyway.
But about a year ago I was falling asleep to Adult Swim on Cartoon Network, and an old show called "Lupin the 3rd" came on. It's okay. Not really my thing, so I wasn't paying much attention.
Until I heard a familiar voice. I sat up and stared at the TV. It was the voice of Syrius from SPatFC!
Of course, I couldn't be certain -- it had been years since I'd watched that movie. But the voice was so strikingly familiar.
I couldn't fall asleep after that. It was like finding an old friend after several years apart. I went to the computer and looked up the English actor for "Lupin the 3rd." His name is Tony Oliver, I believe (although there appear to be several actors).
But when I tried to locate the name of the actor who played Syrius in the English version of SPatFC, I realized that none of the actors were credited.
Since then, I've casually asked around -- even questioned people who specialize in cartoon trivia -- but no one can tell me who worked on the English cast. It's strange, really.
I'm writing about it now because I was doing the same thing tonight that I did a year ago. I was falling asleep to Adult Swim, and on came "Lupin the 3rd." And again, there was that voice. I'm almost certain it's the same actor, but it drives me crazy to not have it confirmed.
Well. It's bed time. Are you proud of yourselves, voice-over actors? I'm actually losing sleep due to your non-credited (probably to fool the union) work. Thanks a lot.
;)
Okay. It's not that big a deal. But I would love to know. Is the English actor for Lupin the same actor for Syrius? My eternal graitiude will go to anyone who can point me toward an answer. :) For now... time to catch up on sleep.
