Neil Gaiman is cool.

I just saw MirrorMask at the movie theatre last night, and it was great. The power of Neil Gaiman, I think, is that he creates simple stories that are somehow so complicated you feel drunk after them. Or maybe it was the merlot.

The only thing that could have made this film any better would have been five or six thousand shots of Gaiman's beautiful face. :) *fangirl alert* Then my life would have been complete. Ah well. We take what he gives us.

I fell in love with Neil Gaiman when I found the Sandman comics in high school. Dream was just so... dreamy. Philosophical, sexy, and sad. I used to imagine the genius who created that character looked just like him. Then one day I saw a photograph of Neil Gaiman, and, what do you know? :)

When I watch the Neverwhere BBC series, I get all tingly during the opening sequence that shows Gaiman striding forward in a long, black coat. There should be more sequences like that in the world. ;)

And his stories. Are. So. Incredible. I always love the worlds he dreams up and the people he invents. The ways in which he reflects reality through fantasy. The things he teaches us about religion and history and philosophy. The interests he sparks.

Anyway, I had fun last night at the movies.

Because I'm in the Gaiman spirit today, I think I'll post one of his many quotable quotes. ;)

"When we hold each other, in the darkness, it doesn't make the darkness go away. The bad things are still out there. The nightmares still walking. When we hold each other we feel not safe, but better.'It's all right' we whisper, 'I'm here, I love you.' and we lie: 'I'll never leave you.' For just a moment or two the darkness doesn't seem so bad." -- Neil Gaiman
