Alternative to The Fishy Show, memorial episode

Just days after Yitzhak and Miranda had come home, Yitzhak had passed away.

We spent hours on the phone with the pet store and exotic vets, looking through Internet sites, and reading suggestions, but all answers pointed to the same conclusion: Yitzhak had been sick for a while before he joined our family. :'(

We rushed to have the water tested ("Whatever you're doing, keep it up! Your levels are perfect," they told us), brought him salt, looked at special foods, and even inquired about antibiotics in a last-minute attempt to help, but all experts agreed that he was far too ill when we got him to be saved.

It was a sad day, but Yitzhak passed away peacefully in his new tank. At his funeral, we talked about what a great fish he was, even if he had only been in our family for a short time. He was small, cute, and had coloring that made it look like he had a beard. :) Super cool goldfish.

Miranda has been adjusting well, though I don't think she wants to be alone. Thankfully, she doesn't appear to have caught anything -- we didn't have time to quarantine her -- and for now she's just busy splashing about her tank, eating her breakfast and dinner, playing with the bubbles, and swimming through the plants. :)

Miranda is my goldfish, technically, and Yitzhak was my boyfriend's. :( We went to the pet store the other day to look for another goldfish, but nothing stood out to him. We both decided the right fish would be obvioiusly the right fish, so we'll keep going back to look as more come in.

So, for today's The Fishy Show, we're remembering Yitzhak.
